So the whole BU gang got together last night to witness the Speed Racer movie. We thought it was hilarious and fun. The Wachowski's made a live action anime, and it was pretty crazy to witness. They're obviously big fans of Speed and wanted to make what was an actual Speed Racer movie that kept all the oblivious campyness of the original intact without making it a source-material bashing irony-fest. Personally, I think they succeeded, as the movie was pretty crazy, colorful, and absolutely insane. If you dig old-school anime like I do and aren't frightened by colors, I think it's worth it.

If you do see it, and happen to like it, I would also highly recommend checking out the live action Cutie Honey movie, put out on DVD by Bandai.
